Flower Show Centerpiece

The theme of this years flower show was "Gathering with a Melody in your Heart". Every room was assigned a genre of music and had to create a celebration around it. My room was a swing music new year's party. This is the centerpiece I created for the tables. It had hydrangea, roses and carnations in the top, and floating tulips in the glass.

2008 Flower Show Bouquet

This was my very first bouquet in a holder. I love the bright colors and the wire. It has pink and orange roses, dendrobium orchids, statice, ruscus, Bells of Ireland, and Salal leaves in it.

Flower Show Bouquet

This is the bouquet I made for the BYU-I spring flower show. I was grouped with two other girls and we all had the same flowers. The challenge was to make 3 completely different bouquets. This is how mine turned out.

Dutch Spiral Hand-Tied Bouquet

I make most of my hand-tied bouquets using the Dutch Spiral technique.  All of the flower are placed together at the same angle, and the stems create a spiral.  When the technique is executed properly, and the stems are cut at the same length, the flowers are able to stand on their own.

Rose and Iris Bouquet

I made this hand-tied bouquet during free time in class... I love the colors, how the yellow-orange plays off of the blue-violet.  I think the irises add a good texture that compliments the roses.

Artificial Arrangements

I made these arrangements for my Mom. I made the one in the basket a few years ago with the help of a youth leader. The one on the pedestal was the final project for my Introduction to Floral Design Class.

Calla Lily and Gladiolus Arrangement

I really like the formality and simplicity of this arrangement.  Our inventory of vases didn't have a vase that fit well with the arrangement, so I filled the vasewith "angel hair" material.  The vase looks too big for the arrangement but I think it can work.

Old Arrangements

This was one of my very first arrangements.  I love the colors and the lines that the Bells and the Delphinium create.

This was an arrangement I had fun making on Halloween 2007.  I colour tooled the roses black, and made the leaves dark.  It was a fun arrangement because all of the spiky textures.

Devotional Arrangement

I made the Devotional arrangement on February 24 with a couple of girls in the class.  I think it turned out really nicely.  We used yellow roses, orange Star-of-Bethlehem, purple irises, liatris, and amaranthus.

This is the arrangement on location in the Hart Auditorium.  I think the biggest problem with the arrangement is that at a distance the purples blended with the greens and only the yellow stood out.
